The following document was found pinned to corpse of an engineer…with a knife. It has been edited to remove a number of the fiercest insults and due to a considerable blood stain. Engineers are advised by AETA leadership to read this at their own risk. Readers should be knowledgeable of the clear bias and unfounded opinions expressed in the following summary of Engineering tools, skill and general play.
My Dear Engineers,
Salutations. This is Wormwood, Leader of the Guild of Thieves…
Over the past three days, I have been amongst your kind, Engineers. In order to better understand you, and perhaps even find someway to overcome you, I have studied your tool, your weapons, and your equipment. Somewhat surprisingly, I have to admit gaining some grudging admiration for you ingenuity and inventiveness, and because of this, I feel strangely driven to let you know what I have found.

Surprised, Thieves? It is I, Tentral! Tinkerer extraordinaire, almighty alchemist, explosives expert and leader of the AETA! Do not worry about your precious Wormwood, no harm has befallen him…to my knowledge. He has foolishly decided to thieve away my thunder in the Engineer spotlight, so I’ve decided to return the…favor. Ah yes, it’s time for another trip into Tyria this weekend. It will be a glorious triumph for Engineers everywhere, as we march once more and burn the homes of the small woodland creatures, the large woodland creatures, and the Thieves. Gotta be honest here, I just really like burning things, and my little list here is full of very easy targets. Burning isn’t everything however; we do need to fill our Elite Skill slot with something useful, and none of our options set anything aflame!
We do have some really good toys to play with for our long cooldown though, so today I’d like to take a look at them while providing some analysis and tips for putting them to good use. Past the cut for my nail-biting, life-changing, Thief-disemboweling prose!

Well, this is it, the final, third part in my series of building and playing a support Engineer in WvW. I spent a great deal of time in the Mists, and it’s definitely a whole different animal than any other part of Tyria. Today’s format is going to be a little weird; I want to present the general strategies for taking and defending WvW points, then explain how to put that information to good use as a support Engineer. That means that everyone who wants some general strategy for battling in the Mists is welcome, not just our Alchemists Explosions and Tinkerers Anonymous members! Except for Thieves. Dirty, stinky, ugly, badly dressed Thieves…who taste like chicken….Mmmmmm.
Oh right, the column! Read on for the strategies that helped my server take and defend the various structures scattered through the Mists. (more…)
Engineers! Welcome to another meeting of the Alchemists, Explosions, and Tinkerers Anonymous. If you haven’t heard yet, there is a date for our release into Tyria, and I couldn’t be more excited! Focusing on the now is what we need to do to be successful, though. Well, the last week might also help a little bit as well. Last week I talked about how I would equip myself to be a successful support Engineer in World versus World battle.
I’m taking that one step further this week by revealing tips that I’ve accumulated over my time within the Mists. Some of it may seem like common sense to those of you who spent a lot of time in the Mists already, but keep in mind that every tip I list here is listed with the intent of making you more successful in the role of support.
Without further ramblings, let’s switch gears and talk a bit about the WvW interface before diving into the meat of today’s content:
