Hey guys, we just report the news and happenings around the community. I do believe we reported on the other map as well, but I'm  not 100% sure on that. 

There's not much more I can say about this as I don't have a lot of power over the situation. We really just report the news and we try to do it as unbiased as possible (except for editorial pieces, obviously). 

If it creates further controversy, I will look into seeing what I can do, but then you can't make everyone happy. Let's just try to continue to keep it civil here. Ok?

So let me check off the differences between this map and the /vg/ map that existed long before this one.

First and foremost, there is no method to create points on the map itself. This of course adds to the difficulty of actually updating the map, and discouraging users from using the maps in the first place. If you want to make a community interactive map, the first step is trusting your users enough to allow them to make edits to it. It would be one thing if this a feature you planned on implementing, but with your comment "The thing is, i don't want everyone to freely edit the map." it doesn't seem as though you plan on doing that. Why bother making this map if you don't trust your fellow redditors?

Second, descriptions so far are much less useful on this map, and there is no way to add a screenshot, which can be a useful tool for providing a visual that the player can relate to, as opposed to simply a point on the map. Pointing a player at a location and saying "Help Farmer Tim" is a lot less useful than pointing at that location, giving a detailed description of what happens in the event, and showing a screenshot of the event in-action.

Third, you claim the original map is sloppy, yet make literally no improvements to the map whatsoever. If you're going to steal something, at least accredit the original, it's the most polite way to be a thief. I realize this is something that of course you feel is original and clearly superior to the original, but it isn't. It's an inferior version in all ways, and even if you ever do improve over the original map in one single category, you'll still have a lot of catching up to do.

Next, you have a severe lack of icon variety as opposed to the original map. Sure, you have points of interest, but how useful is that when all you have to describe the point is a simple string? Not only that, but you're missing so much information by limiting yourself to solely what the in-game map tells you. What's the point of making an interactive map if it has no improvements and little additional information compared the one you can find by simply pressing M while playing? Not only that, but you're missing vital things such as vendor icons in cities, and other useful things such as Ranger pets and mining/farming locations. These are simple things that could be easily added to the map, but have been completely overlooked.

I realize that maybe you're working on fixing (at least some of) these issues, but the first step in doing something that's already been done is being at least as good as the original, and then improving from there. This map is entirely less function than the one in game, let alone /vg/'s interactive map, and until it improves significantly, I can't even see the point. Please for a moment disregard the website I hail from and instead look at what you've done, and see how you can better yourselves instead of downboating my comment into oblivion, or whatever you guys do. I'm really not here to attack you, just to point out flaws in tooting a "a cleaner one, pack with informations" when it has significantly fewer features than the original.

Satanael of /vg/ has had a working map like this for months now. lpdumas blatantly ripped this off.

I've been waiting on a proper online worldmap - this is awesome (and a ton of work)!
