What gave you the idea to make a paper golem?
A member of MARA Alliance (which I belong to) said one of my models resembled an asuran golem, so I decided to make one from scratch and get it as close as possible.
How long did it take to make?
To get the 3D model looking how I wanted, then the template and the graphics…about 20 hours of work.
How was it made?
The initial model is designed in Sketch-up. I draw each piece separately, so I have to keep an eye on dimensions. The next step is to unfold the model using Pepakura. Once the basic template is created, I then trace over the whole thing in Illustrator and then add the graphics.
What got you started in art, and how long have you been making art?
I’ve always loved creating things, and [have been] drawing for as long as I can remember. I got into designing about 5 years ago when I started drawing car graphics, and I stumbled into the paper toys about 2 years ago by accident. I was searching for a blank skateboard template so I could get dimensions for the graphics, and the search brought up some Urban Paper toys, and now I do vector art.
What is your favorite thing about Guild Wars 2?
Hmm, that’s a tough one. There are so many aspects that I like, but I guess the sheer detail of the world is what makes it for me. I spent 6 years running around in GW1 , and I hope to know this new land just as well.
