While the title may make you raise a brow, the recent article” How Guild Wars 2 Contributes To World Peace” by Hugh Hancock at MMO Melting Pot makes some convincing points about just how relaxed and peaceful Guild Wars 2 is in comparison to other MMO’s.

The article quotes a number of  bloggers, including one named Ravious. He notes a “who cares” effect that he has come to experience within the world of Tyria. Far from apathy, Ravious has in fact mentioned one of the principle differences between GW2 and older MMO’s, such as WOW;

The biggest side effect is the “who cares” effect. I am not fighting for resources or time against other players anymore. We are not racing to the shiny moss or seeing who can tag the respawn first. I am just about to kill a centaur and Joe Bob Ranger runs up and hits it for a few shots. I know he will get experience and loot, and who cares. Some people still do, it seems, as I’ve seen a few chat occasions where players whine about leeching. – Ravious

The world of Guild Wars 2 certainly seems less competitive than its counterparts. Players no longer need to compete for Mining nodes, and experience from kills is not keyed to any one player, eliminating the problem of ‘kill-stealing’.
