Anybody watching last week’s ArenaNet stream on Twitch TV may have noticed something rather unique about the video… or more so, what is in the background:

For those of you with a set of eyes and reasonable vision, those are two Guild Wars posters. So… why is this important? Well, look at the one behind Eric Flannum… It’s a human, and he’s human. But behind Colin is a Sylvari. Why?

Because Colin Johanson, lead content developer at ArenaNet… is a Sylvari. In real life.

I know what you’re thinking. “But HAPPYcat, that doesn’t make sense! Sylvari aren’t real!” Well, Mr. Smarty Pants, if they aren’t real, then why are they in a video game?

Some of you may take this a step further and think that this is ridiculous. There’s no way Colin Johanson is a plant. Right?

Well, we here at Guild Wars Insider… We get the inside scoop on everything, hence Guild Wars Insider. We present to you this real, pictoral evidence of Colin Johanson undressing a sunflower with his imagination while Eric Flannum blabs on about something important:

No wonder he’s so enthusiastic about this game’s release. Now he can roleplay his own life on the Internet!

This of course raises all kinds of questions. If Colin cooks with vegetable oil, is it considered cannibalism? When he walks into the produce section at Stop & Shop, does he break down and start crying over the loss and mass-market cultivation of all his brothers and sisters?

When he sneezes, does the Pale Tree get a runny nose?

Only he can answer these questions, and tragically we haven’t bothered reaching out to him. We’re using our Insider influence to do other cool things, like make up stupid stuff about the developers so we can pass the time before the next beta.

Something Silly and Something Stupid is an alternating weekly column written by GWI staff MouseBurglar and HAPPYcat. This column is intended to be humorous and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Additional credit goes out to Aliette Faye for pointing out Colin’s poster and suggesting he’s representing himself.
