WELCOME TO CALEDON FOREST
Caledon Forest is the starting area for the Sylvari. Located to the north of The Grove, the race’s capital city, Caledon Forest contains 18 hearts, 18 waypoints, 20 points of interest, seven skill points to seek and eight vistas to view.
OUTPOSTS IN CALEDON FOREST
OUTPOST A: Village of Astorea
OFFERINGS: Located on the southern end of Caledon Forest, the Village of Astorea offers two Trading Post NPCs, a merchant, repairs, trainers for every profession, a waypoint and two nearby Points of Interest to the west and east-south-east.
OUTPOST B: Mabon Market
OFFERINGS: The Mabon Market offers trainers for all crafting disciplines, as well as merchants, repairs and its own waypoint. For those exploring in Caledon Forest, this will be a central hub for the entire crafting experience, at least as far as you’re able to go without accessing your bank’s collectibles storage.
OUTPOST C: Kraitbane Haven
OFFERINGS: This outpost, protected by a series of fortified walls, offers little to the adventurer but serves as a protection point for those fighting in the waters to the southeast or the fields to the west. In its walls, Kraitbane Haven houses armorsmith and weaponsmith trainers, a merchant, repairs, a waypoint and a vista for those wishing to go sight-seeing.
ATTRACTIONS IN CALEDON FOREST
ATTRACTION 1: Help Danador manage his kennel by becoming a hound (3)
DETAILS: This heart is easy to complete, and fun to move through. In it, you are transformed into a hound, and you are tasked with sniffing for things (because all hound sniff for things), playing with pups and more. On occasion, you will need to attack a foe, but the hound comes equipped with a couple of skills to do this.
THE STRATEGY: Sit back, relax, and have fun. This is an easy heart, and a memorable one at that.
ATTRACTION 2: Disrupt the Nightmare Court at Briarthorn Den (6)
DETAILS: As you adventure in the forest, you will find that a rival faction of Sylvari, the Nightmare Court, have dissented from the Sylvari’s natural ways and are overall an irritating presence. In this heart, you are tasked with disguising as one of them, infiltrating one of their bases of operations and wreaking havoc. In your time at this location, you will: soften Nightmare pups or make them bloodthirsty, release captured Sylvari Wardens, fight and humiliate Nightmare trainees and more. While the heart isn’t difficult to complete, it is a thorough, and reasonable, introduction to the rivalry between the Wardens and Nightmare Court.
ATTRACTION 3: Destroy the Risen fish assaulting Sandycove Beach (8)
DETAILS: In this event, four Risen fish – think of them like giant, rock-like fish heads – have come out of nowhere, and it is up to you to cleanse the beach of their presence. But beware! As you do so, Risen thugs of various shapes and sizes leap out of the fish, making completion of this event very difficult.
THE STRATEGY: So much aggro pumps off of the Risen fish, that it makes it difficult to take the fish itself down while you maintain the many foes it generates. The best strategy to finishing this event will include Area of Effect (AoE) damage and melee attacks that hit multiple targets, so that you are able to damage the spawns as well as the fish at the same time, thus coming closer to finishing the event as you fight the aggro.
ATTRACTION 4: Free quaggan slaves from Slaver’s Deeps (13)
DETAILS: Unless the event has already been initiated, you may find that in your travels around mid-eastern water areas, you will be approached by Jubjup, a young quaggan whose friends have been captured as slaves. Accepting the mission will take you to Slaver’s Deeps, where ten slave cells containing Quaggan slaves await. The event is challenging, specifically for those not fully adjusted to water combat, but they will also mesh well with a nearby heart, allowing the player to bang out two objectives at once while also working to save what is easily one of the most adorable animal races to ever be conceived.
ATTRACTION 5: Champion of the Sun (five-part event chain)
DETAILS: In this chain of events, players exploring Caledon Forest will be tasked with taking part in a hylek ritual to honor the sun. In this process, players will battle four great beasts – a crab, a drake, a moa bird and a jellyfish – as those species. Once the four beasts are defeated, players will be directed towards Xolotl, a hylek champion, in a group event that has you frequently transformed into any of the beasts you previously fought as. You will need friends for the final battle, but the first four can be solo’d with some finesse:
PART A, Defeat Meztli in a crab battle (10): In this battle, you are transformed into a crab with five attack skills – two direct melee hits, two dodging maneuvers that end with hits and a skill to retreat into your shell for some hopeful health regeneration. The key to defeating Meztli will be understanding how the fifth skill works: for a brief time, you hide in your shell. If you are hit three times while hiding, you are interrupted. If the spell resolves without an interruption, you regenerate health for a number of seconds. Meztli will not respond well to you using the skill, so if you give yourself some distance, you can expect to use it and get away with the regen. When Meztli uses the skill, be ready to quickly jab at him with the first two attack skills in rapid succession. Doing so will guarantee that he can’t heal, and over time you will defeat him.
PART B, Defeat Xiuhcoatl in a battle of drakes (10): Xiuhcoatl, like any drake, breathes fire. With him being so much larger than you, and thus having a bit more in the way of health, his fire breath should be avoided. However, you can use it to your advantage – if any nearby non-aggressive creatures are in the ring, such as a Flamingo (which populate the area), put one in the line of fire to gain a quick ally in the fight. While he is distracted, standing in one place and not facing you, take advantage of the fire breathing skill and put him to an end.
PART C, Defeat Pisti in a moa battle (11): Pisti is a challenging foe, but he has one key weakness – he doesn’t like to bleed. If you peck him and burden him with this condition, he spins in pain until the condition fades. You will want to dispatch him quickly, as many smaller moas will join him in the fight over time, significantly stacking the odds against you.
PART D, Defeat Michin in a jellyfish battle (12): Being the only water battle in the chain, this one requires a bit of a change in strategy. With three-dimensional access to Michin, your priority should be avoiding his use of Tentacle Flurry, the jellyfish’s third skill, and using the fourth Dark Water skill to lure him through a crowd of poison. Avoid his attacks, smack him with your second attack skill whenever possible and keep kiting him through the poison, and you’ll defeat him easily.
ENDING, Defeat Xolotl (group event, level 10): For this final battle, you will face Xolotl, a hylek champion, in a group event. Throughout this battle, you will randomly be transformed to one of the three terrestrial creatures you played as before. Avoid his attacks, and a coordinated group should be able to defeat the champion and finish the event chain.

I'd like to comment on 'Outpost B' where you said "at least as far as you’re able to go without accessing your bank’s collectibles storage." You are now able to view your bank and collectibles from the crafting windows! Super convenient change, I love it.
