Want to power level your way from level 1 GW2 “whats his name” to the coveted level 80 “OMG OMG IS THAT HIM”? Well, want no more because GuildWarsInsider.com has just published its We’re Hiring Profession Guide ™. In it you will find tips and tactics offered specifically for each of the three GWI professions guaranteed to leave your guildies speechless.
Don’t believe us? Well, here is what some of our current writers have to say about it.
“It’s hard to believe but after a few profession posts, I unlocked the Groupies skill slot and I have to say that it is a whole lot better than mini pets.” – Centurion
“Who would have thought that being a News Reporter would get me free cuts in the Trading Post line ? When Seven told me about this, I thought, he’s crazy. Sure enough, I walked up to the merchant and several other players wandered off. Now I gotta say, “Thanks, GWI!” – Echelon
How do you get your hands on this awesome guide? Well, Guild Wars Insider is once again hiring in order to keep up with the demand and when you get brought on board – this guide is totally free (* with 49.95 shipping and handling). We have a great team of writers and reporters now but it just isn’t enough to keep on top of things. That and there are these labor laws that we keep hearing them chirp about.
We are looking to fill three kinds of positions: Profession Columnist, News Reporter and Guide Writer.
The Profession Columnist
Think you know the best Mesmer PvP build for Kyhlo? Remember that list of Engineer skill ranges you keep next to your monitor just in case some emergency theory crafting is needed? Well, now might be the perfect time to whip up a few sample articles and apply to be one of our Profession Columnists!
The Profession Columnist duties will include writing a weekly profession-specific column around a topic decided upon by the columnist, the occasional feature article, as well as providing additional support to the news team with content posts when needed.
For those of you who can’t get enough news and info about GW2, perhaps a role as a News Reporter is more to your liking. GWI strives to be the first in Guild Wars 2 news, and believe it or not… there’s constant chatter behind the scenes about what we’ve found on the web. We need more hands on deck!
The News Reporter
As a News Reporter, your duties would focus solely on posting news to the GWI front page, as well as scouring the web via proprietary black magic (we harvest our own) to find hidden gems of newsworthiness in the smallest of internet corners. Think of it like rolling a natural 20 on a perception check with thousands of people watching.
Yes, we’re also a little bit geeky.
The Guide Writer
Got a nack for telling people what to do AND have them come back for more advice? Do you eat, sleep and breath minute details at an unhealthy level? Do people go out of their way to avoid emailing you questions because they are afraid of getting “the Great Wall of Text” response? If you answered yes to any of these questions then we have a position for you as well as some suggestions for therapy.
Guide writing is in great demand and comes with high visibility. It is not for the faint of heart but if it happens to be your thing – we have a grand stage for you to display your mad directional skills. Come join us and do what even our girlfriends and boyfriends can only dream of… tell us what to do and where to go.
The Devil Is In The Details

The Benefits
Life at GWI can be all work and all play right? So how about the benefits…
The good news is that you will be getting paid as much as the rest of the staff. The bad news is that we work for free. However, the perks are pretty nice. We have quite a few projects in the works and being part of our staff gives you first dibs on participation in them. Oh, and because we are growing and always in flux, there is always room for advancement as over the next few weeks we’ll be adding several Editor and Management spots. We also have several programs in the works to reward contributors with gems, in game items, swag and more. Past perks have included copies of Guild Wars 2, autographed gear from ArenaNet Devs, free games, and opportunities to interview the development team.
Overall, its a great chance to get in on a growing community and experience the other side of gaming. If you have read all of this and are interested – submit your writing samples to guildwarsinsider@gmail.com with the title Application – Profession Columnist or Application – News Reporter to apply. We will attempt to respond to everyone if time permits.
