For months, players have been asking how their achievements in the first Guild Wars move over to Guild Wars 2, and where they go for those rewards.
An ArenaNet blog post published this morning sheds some light on how players entering Guild Wars 2 for the first time Saturday will redeem awards tied to their Guild Wars 1 accomplishments.
As the post indicates, all newly-created characters on Guild Wars 2 accounts linked to a corresponding Guild Wars account will receive a special in-game item to go to their Hall of Monuments:
Once there, speak with our old friend Kimmes the Historian (in his newer, slightly less-corporeal state) and he’ll show you a list of Hall of Monument reward items you have unlocked. You can select any of the items, at any time, for any character you make on your account.
Use the Hall of Monuments Portal Stone again to transport yourself (and your rewards) back to your former location. It’s that easy.
Portal stones are created only once per characters. According to a Guild Wars 2 support page on the Hall of Monuments, the stones are account-bound, so if you accidentally delete yours, simply create a new character and move the stone into your inter-character bank storage.
To see your prior accomplishments and how they carry over to Guild Wars 2, visit the Hall of Monuments Reward Calculator.
Rewards for Guild Wars 2 fall into the following breakdown, and the full list is included after the break:
- Heritage armor skins appearing like Guild Wars promotional armor (six pieces)
- Historical armor skins (four pieces)
- Unique weapon skins (16 pieces)
- Rare, charmable pets (four pets)
- Unique minipets (four total)
- Nostalgic character titles (10 total)
This is the full list of rewards available, sorted by the type of item. Numbers before each item corresponds to what you need in points to get it. To see what the rewards look like, visit this page on the Guild Wars 2 wiki.

I'm not sure I like that whole "create a new character to get a new stone" thing. With less character slots than there are professions I know I'll have all of mine filled. How will I get a stone then, I wonder?
@Tentral I'm not sure what you mean, but I'll try to answer this as best I can because I think I know what you're saying.
When you create a new character, you get a stone on each character you create. So I don't think you have to worry about it. When people were creating new characters in the stress test before last nights, they were automatically given the stone in their inventory. It didn't do anything, but it was there.
@ananamoose @Tentral What he is saying is the same problem I have.... On day 1 I am creating all of my characters before I even start playing (anticipating BDay presents :O) So in the event that I manage to lose all 5 of the stones I am given... I would be forced to delete one of my characters in order to get a new stone.
@VictoriaWest @ananamoose @notreckless @Tentral Indeed they do. I just saw the news about this last night after launch. :)
@ananamoose @notreckless @Tentral They sell the stones in Lion's Arch.
@notreckless @ananamoose @Tentral yes. If you accidentally delete your stone, you would have to make a new character to get a new one.
I am anticipating that they are going to change that, though. I don't know for sure but I can see that a lot of people are not going to like that so they will probably change it.
It does ask you before you destroy something if you are sure you want to destroy it. I don't anticipate this will be a huge problem, but it could possibly be one.
Another solution I could see them doing is to make the stone unable to be destroyed or sold. That would definitely eliminate that potential problem.
We will really just have to see, though.
