ArenaNet just launched a full-scale assault on Twitter, announcing the release date for the much-anticipated Guild Wars 2:
Among other things, one more Beta Weekend Event is planned for July 20-22. More details can be found in this ArenaNet blog post.
If you haven’t yet prepurchased the game, now is the time. Prepurchase head-start will run for three days, starting Saturday, August 25.

Now is the time to get Intel, AMD, and nVidia into their studios to help improve the graphics performance! Its not right that "best performance" and "best quality" give me the practically the same fps :(
@V Man Game is still not optimized. Your CPU is doing most of the work and your graphics card to doing almost nothing. ANet is working on fixing that.
@nanfoodle Dude, that was the first open beta. Since then it's become way better. My tests using evga precision x (A GPU monitering program) shows that the last build of the beta used abouts 50-65% of my gpu for normal gameplay (I have an evga 560ti fermi). The beta was also only using about half my GPU ram, 500ish mb. However, during cinematics my gpu went up to a massive 95 to 99% usage if I didn't have Vertical sync on. Temps even with my after market cooler (Icy vision) were touching low 60s degrees C during normal gameplay with 80% fan speed.Yes, there still is some optimization to be done, but I'd say it's 75% done. The "Guild wars 2 only uses your CPU atm, have hope you can still run this awesomely" is no longer true for the most part. Sorry..

nVidia have a bunch of people whose job is simply to help game developers get better performance out of their hardware. I'm sure AMD have the same, and Intel are always helpful. Plus everyone wants their badge on the box cuz a lot of those boxes are gonna be sold even after release.
@nanfoodle Perfectly clear and I already knew that. what I was trying to say is they don't have much time left and they could use some help from people whose job is to help with these things.
@V Man Ok maybe I wasn't clear this is problem with how the game is optimized and ANet said right now 90% of the game is being processed by your CPU only. They are working on getting that fixed so your video card is much more involved. Your FPS will be much better once they get this worked out.

Oh this is much sooner than I was expecting! Still it is great news. Too bad I will be in Seattle all that week for PAX Prime. It is nice to finally have a date :D
Doesnt PAX Prime start on the 31st? Arenanet HQ isnt far from there. You should go check it out. Might get some freebies :D
