The Fanart Spotlight strikes yet again! For this feature, we managed to snag a pretty snazzy interview with the amazing artist Dominik Maslo. As seen below, he is very talented and capable.
About the Art
How long did it take to make the piece?
It took me about 16 hours to finish the picture.
Was there a specific inspiration behind the artwork?
Well, there was an inspiration behind it. I love Kekai Kotakis style of painting. He’s one of my favorite artists by the way. So I tried to copy his style and mix it with my own.
What programs/mediums did you use for this piece?
I used Photoshop CS5 and a Wacom CTH-470K-DE Bamboo Tablet.
What originally got you started doing art?
Watching speedpainting videos on YouTube originally got me started doing art. I thought, wow this is awesome. As far as I can remember I immediately started doing my own speedpaintings. That was the first time I did digital art.
What advice would you give to other/aspiring artists?
My advice is to practice as much as you can. You should always have your sketchbook with you. You’ll never know. If you are traveling you might see some impressive buildings or landscapes. Make some scribbles if you like them and maybe you can use them in your next paintings.
About the Artist
Were you a big fan of the original Guild Wars?
Yes, I’m a huge fan of the original Guild Wars. I really like the gameplay and it’s always fun to create my own perfect build.
Which profession do you plan to have as your main character?
I plan to have a necromancer as my main character as my main character in the original Guild Wars also was a necromancer.
Which of the races are you most excited to play as?
I’m most excited to play as a Sylvari because I never saw a race in any way similar to this one. I like their homeland. Somehow it remembers me of the great tree in Avatar where the Na’vi lived.
Which aspect of Guild Wars 2 is your favorite? (PvE, PvP, WvW, Dungeons, DEs, Crafting, Exploring, etc..)
My favorite aspect of Guild Wars 2 are the Dynamic Events and the World itself. I cant wait to explore Tyria. It’s going to be awesome!
